This is from a current legal case in Orange County, CA where the Ethics Question is completely a Hot Topic! Imagine an aggressive criminal attorney dealing with a highly distressed potential client who suffers from severe mental health issues. Obviously under great stress and likely manic (yes, this person suffers from what appears to be an extreme bi-polar issue) who has been in and out of the legal system for quite some time. This attorney charged well over $10,000 upfront from this new client who was killed soon after due to a violent shooting incident!

 

-- THE ISSUE --

 

The lawyer refuses to talk to the deceased client's family or business associates in any manner as they are in deep grieving in losing their family member and friend!

They want answers and they want their family member's money back!

 

The lawyer is apparently planning to keep the huge retainer in full

even though his client died before any initial court activity, etc.
